Kinloch Golf Club Enhancement Project - Week 7 Update

Friday, July 5th, Kinloch Golf Club, in conjunction with Landscapes Unlimited, began our summer-long, facility enhancement project. As we travel through the project, please check in for weekly blog posts which will update our progress.

Thanks for all of your support as we are very excited about this project and the product we will offer this coming fall!!!

This is the 7th Week Update!! Sodding and sod prep is rolling!!

Last Thursday, August 15th, we laid our first truck of Tall Fescue. For those that may not know, a truck of sod covers 1/4 of an acre. Since that first truck, we have prepped and sodded 21 trucks of grass, or 5 acres!!!

The sod prep is being handled by Landscapes Unlimited and has been rolling along.

They have stripped and prepped holes 1-8. It is an awesome process to watch. The machine pictured below, strips the grass and conveyors the spoils into trailers running adjacent to the machine.

Once the treated turf is stripped, the soil is raked and a pre-plant fertilizer is applied to the sod bed. After the fertilizer is applied, the sod is installed. Kinloch Golf Club and GreenCor have teamed up to lay almost 5 acres of new grass in the past 7 days.

Aside from the eradication of unwanted grasses, Lester George and Vinny Giles are also introducing some really cool grassing enhancements. When we re-open, all of our bunkers will be flanked by a low-mow, bluegrass. This new look will enhance playability and aesthetics.

So, in the picture below, you can see that the rough which surrounded the bunker has been removed

As the new grasses are installed, that rough is being replaced with the closely cropped bluegrass.

And while the course improvements continue, the training center is changing daily. This facility is going to be sweet!

Kinloch Golf Club Enhancement Project - Week 6 Update

Friday, July 5th, Kinloch Golf Club, in conjunction with Landscapes Unlimited, began our summer-long, facility enhancement project. As we travel through the project, please check in for weekly blog posts which will update our progress.

Thanks for all of your support as we are very excited about this project and the product we will offer this coming fall!!!

This is the 6th Week Update!! Sodding began this week!!

Yesterday evening, August 15th, we recorded 2.5" of rain that fell in less than one hour. The pictures below show how incredible the BBB Bunker System really is. If we were open, we might have added one more employee to our daily bunker raking operation... but otherwise, the bunkers are barely affected.

And these shots are from 2018 when we received 3" of rain overnight. Slight difference in how the bunkers performed :) In this scenario, we deployed 2 sand-pros, a repair crew of 8-10 employees and a silt crew of 4 employees. Even using 14-16 employees, this repair work took us over a day to complete.

The lake edge restoration is complete and the sod was installed yesterday. Don't mind the white/yellow grass... that's us whacking bent grass in the rough!

The sod stripping in the rough will begin this weekend, but we have already sod cut and prepped the fairways. Our first truck of bent arrives Tuesday morning.

The training center is really coming into form!!

Next week we will be receiving 12-15 trucks of sod!! We will be excited to share continued progress.

Kinloch Golf Club Enhancement Project - Week 5 Update

Friday, July 5th, Kinloch Golf Club, in conjunction with Landscapes Unlimited, began our summer-long, facility enhancement project. As we travel through the project, please check in for weekly blog posts which will update our progress.

Thanks for all of your support as we are very excited about this project and the product we will offer this coming fall!!!

This is the 5th Week Update!! Progress continues to be incredible!!

Since our last post, the inside renovation of the clubhouse has really taken off. Below are some shots of the locker room, great room and kitchen... respectively.

With our re-grassing initiative, the fairway stripping has begun. We have treated the Bermuda in the fairways 4 times with non-selective herbicide. Due to the lower height of cut, we are confident that these areas are ready for excavation and sod prep. We will not be laying sod for another 10 days, so if we should see any re-emergence of weeds, we will treat one final time before sodding. The cutters are almost through 9 and the clean-up/prep crew is through 5!!!

In addition to the bunker and grassing renovations, we will be restoring over 2500 linear feet of our lake banks. That work began yesterday and it looks wonderful.

The training center expansion continues to move along very nicely. We now have our clock
back :)
Early July

Today, August 9th

This is the final bunker to be completed. As I took this picture, the polymer was being applied and the sand is coming tomorrow. This would mean that Landscapes Unlimited has de-sanded, graveled, sprayed and re-sanded all of our bunkers in about 35 days!!! Incredible!!!

While our greens continue to just hang out:)
