Welcome

We developed this blog to provide golf course maintenance information to our members. From projects, small and large, to updates on course conditions, we want to provide as much information as possible. Although we hope this blog answers all of the pertinent questions regarding our operation, we always welcome more personalized dialogue. If you have questions beyond the information found on this blog, feel free to contact our golf course superintendent, Trevor Hedgepeth.

Winter Projects Update 1-29-2016

On January 22nd and 23rd, we received +/- 12" of snow. Despite the weather, our contractor, Landscapes Unlimited, has been working on the new tee boxes on holes 3 and 6.

Rough shaping the tee pad on #6

Once rough-shaped, the architect approves the elevations

If the elevations are approved, the tee top is then fine-graded to drain at 1.5% in one or two directions

The floors are graded with a box blade that is controlled by a laser.

After the sub-floor is properly graded, drainage is installed.

Our next post will focus on the addition of the tee mix and the final grade prior to sod or seed.

Winter Projects Update 1-18-2016

#12 Fairway Bunker(s) Renovation

We began by removing all of the sod within the construction limits. We also removed all of the existing sand in the bunkers. The removed sand was transported to our range traps. It was very clean and in great condition, so using it elsewhere was an easy decision.

Sod removal in progress. 2 sod cutters and 5-6 staff members cut, rolled and removed about 22,000 square feet in 10 hours.

Irrigation heads being removed and capped at the lateral service tee. Should we not impact the pipe, we can re-attach the head. Otherwise, we will trench new pipe wherever disturbed.

All of the sod in rolls, ready to be moved. We were dealing with freezing nights so we cut and rolled until dark. The next morning, when the ground was frozen, we were able to move the sod off-site.

2016 Golf Course Improvement Projects

2016 should be an exciting year for Kinloch Golf Club. We have a full tournament slate and the golf course did well in 2015. In addition, our club has decided to complete several golf course improvement projects. To keep our membership updated on our progress, we will use this blog to post updates and photos as different projects are underway. Look for updates on a weekly basis. Indeed, 2016 should be an exciting year for Kinloch Golf Club.
